Space-Making

The idea of the plan / proposal is something that fascinates me. Sometimes the proposal, with all its unrealised potential, becomes a more potent tool to think than the realised work. In that regard, these drawings work both as proposals and artistic explorations of space, place and time.

This collection of drawings, models and writings brings together diverse explorations of the nature and poetics of space. Ranging from quick drawings that capture a fleeting glimpse of a wall construction or a sculptural form, to more intricate and thought out architectural fictions. The boundaries between sculpture and architecture blur.

At times spaces have been designed in relation to sculptural works / installations that I would like to make. So, the building and the work exist in dialogue with each other.

Each exploration is grounded in real or imagined places. Drawing is a way of thinking, and there is a tentativeness that it allows while imagining new realities- new ways of moving through space and place- allowing me to learn, and to have a dialogue with the idea of construction. These drawings are the time before the real in some way, a kind of day dream.
